Until Rogers and McKim wrote The Authority and Interpretation of the Bible, it was conventional wisdom that most, if not all, of the Church Fathers and the Reformers accepted a form of biblical inerrancy, even if they did not so call it. Rogers and McKim challenged this opinion. I will deal with their arguments (and John Woodbridge’s rejoinder to them) in more detail in the next section.
